Space Telescope
This window hanging was inspired by the design of the James Web Space Telescope. Like the JWST, It's composed of a dish of 19 connected hexagons. I used 3D CAD to design the structure and Illustrator to design the rest. The images above are back lit. The bright white areas are actually holes with the light from a window shining through.
Redwood Curtain
This piece was inspired by the bark of a Coast Redwood tree. It is composed of 36 pieces of laser cut wood sewn together in three layers with butcher's twine. It hangs in a window on a track such that each layer can be moved forward and backward to let in more or less light. I'm short on wall space, and this window needed blinds, so I took the opportunity to create a rather large piece with very little material. I love how the look changes in different lighting.
Nautilus
With these pieces, I'm experimenting with a couple different construction methods. I see a lot of potential here and look forward to continuing along this path.
June 2024 Experiments
While developing the Redwood Curtain, I created quite a few test pieces, including a different style curtain composed of circles in a gimbal configuration.
